Absoft Announces General Availability for High Performance Computing Software Developer's Kit

Wednesday, 22 June 2005

At today's International Supercomputing Conference 2005, Absoft Corporation announced general availability of the new High Performance Computing Software Development Kit (HPC SDK) optimized for clusters and servers based on 64-bit-Intel(R) Xeon(TM) processors running Linux. Plans for the product were announced in April at "Linux Clusters: The HPC Revolution 2005."

The Absoft HPC SDK is a complete solution for software developers to compile, run, debug, and optimize high-performance software applications. It includes Fortran and C/C++ compilers from both Intel and Absoft, debuggers, math libraries, pre-built message passing (MPI) libraries, and other development tools. The SDK is configured to provide the simplest installation and the highest performance on 64-bit clusters. The HPC SDK from Absoft is the only commercially available HPC SDK that combines tools from different vendors to provide customers with a best-of-class solution.

The HPC SDK includes some of the industry's leading software tools optimized for 64-bit extensions and is preconfigured for easy installation. Customers can begin using the HPC SDK to take advantage of their existing hardware and software investments in just 3 easy mouse clicks. Absoft Corporation is the point of contact to simplify all pre-sale, post-sale and technical support questions related to the HPC SDK. A complete information package and demonstration are available at: http://www.absoft.com/saleskit/intel/

"Absoft's SDK, which includes the Intel Fortran and Intel C++ Compilers, enables developers to write highly optimized code for Intel-based platforms," said Bill Savage, general manager of Intel's Software Products Division. "For highly optimized performance on clusters, this SDK also includes the Intel Cluster Math Kernel Library incorporating thread-safe routines such as ScaLAPACK for Linux, and the Intel MPI Library supporting message passing routines working with multiple interconnects on Intel clusters. All combined, this SDK is a powerful set of tools assembled from multiple vendors to help HPC customers quickly and easily develop high-performing solutions."

The HPC SDK is optimized specifically for clusters and servers based on 64-bit-Intel(R) Xeon(TM) processors running Linux, such as the IBM(R) eServer xSeries(R) and the IBM eServer(TM) Cluster 1350, IBM's leading-edge Linux cluster solutions. The SDK also works with rack-optimized IBM eServer xSeries(R) 336 and 346 Intel(R) processor-based servers, and IBM eServer BladeCenter.

The HPC SDK components include the Intel(R) Fortran and Intel C++ Compilers, Absoft's Fortran 95 compilers for multi-platform compatibility and portability, Absoft's Fx2 multi-language debugger for improved F95/C/C++ debugging, Absoft's Common Installer for quick and easy installation, the Absoft Modules environment for 32-bit and 64-bit software control, Absoft's Common License Manager, Intel MPI, LAM/MPI, Intel(R) Math Kernel Library (Intel(R) MKL) and 12 months free support. Versions of the new SDK are available for SLES9 or RHEL3. Enhanced versions which incorporate additional third party tools such as performance profilers, math libraries for clusters, and parallel debuggers are coming soon.

"Our close working relationships with Intel and IBM allow us to offer the best possible combined HPC software solutions for our customers. Combining best-of-breed products from different top tier vendors, the HPC SDK provides maximum performance and the flexibility to configure the best solution for each customer. HPC SDK customers benefit from Absoft's 25 years of multi-platform experience providing software solutions with a common look and feel which run across all of today's leading HPC environments. We combine the industry's best tools, a common look and feel and a single point of contact to answer all the questions," said Absoft CEO Wood Lotz.
