ADIC Strengthens StorNext Archiving Capabilities
Tuesday, 1 August 2006 while maintaining transparent access to the files for multiple hosts and operating systems. In the new release, StorNext automatically generates a unique signature for each file before it is moved from primary to secondary storage, and then performs a comparison check when that data is retrieved. A second new archiving feature in StorNext 2.8 improves archiving performance and allows users to take better advantage of the storage characteristics of open system tape technologies by utilizing the performance characteristics of tape more effectively. Also included in StorNext 2.8 is new operating environment support including Opteron/ EM64T on RedHat 4 and SUSE Linux 9 for StorNext Storage Manager, and updates for RedHat 3, RedHat4 and IRIX. New drive support was added for IBM TS1120 in the ADIC Scalar 10K tape library, and Sun/StorageTek T10000 in the Sun/StorageTek 9310 tape library.
