Agile Software Company Announces First Open Source Product With Built-In Server Alerts

Thursday, 24 August 2006

Digital Focus, a Command Information company and leader in Agile business consulting, software development and integration services, today announced the initial public release of its flagship open source product, NAG. NAG is a continuous integration monitor which assists agile development teams in monitoring the stability of their applications. NAG monitors servers such as Apache Continuum and immediately notifies users of software build failures via audible and visual queues.

"Our Open Source Initiative has brought technology professionals together to collaborate and we are confident that with our first product offering, NAG, they will only continue to help each other in evolving software," said Erin Smith, president of Digital Focus (http://www.DigitalFocus.com). "We know the importance of supporting companies with products like NAG that can be run in the Windox and Linux system trays."

NAG provides basic monitoring and configuration options for the Apache Continuum continuous integration server. Future versions of Digital Focus' NAG, in development, will include support for Cruise Control, Lunt Build, and Ant Hill monitoring. NAG, developed as open source software, encourages developers to submit patches, bug reports, and feedback information to help other professionals collaborate. Information on the new Digital Focus product can be found at http://www.nagmonitor.org.

Digital Focus recently launched its Open Source Initiative to help professionals and companies worldwide improve and customize technology programs to their individual needs. Open Source Software (OSS) responds to real business needs because it is developed, tested, and improved through public collaboration. It is a methodology for creating software wherein developers worldwide can contribute information, distribute and share programs with others.

Open Source Software has become critical to the infrastructure of Corporate America. Companies are deploying software such as Linux, Apache HTTPD, and JBoss in production systems and utilizing software such as Apache Struts, The Spring Framework, and Hibernate to create business critical applications.

As part of Command Information, Digital Focus delivers software and services for clients that meet and exceed today's organizational needs, while 'future-proofing' these systems with an understanding and leverage of the new features and functions of IPv6.
