Ansoft Announces Optimetrics v4
Thursday, 18 August 2005Ansoft Corporation (NASDAQ:ANST) announces Optimetrics(TM) v4. Optimetrics works with HFSS(TM), Ansoft Designer(R), Q3D Extractor(TM) and Maxwell(R) products to perform parametric studies, statistical/sensitivity analysis and optimization.
This release introduces SNLP (Sequential Nonlinear Programming) and SMINLP (Sequential Mixed-Integer Nonlinear Programming) optimization algorithms. Applying Response Surface Modeling (RSM) techniques, these complementary methods allow engineers to optimize over a continuous design space and/or to specify discrete steps between instances, respectively. The new discrete step optimization can be configured to ensure that the resulting optimized design is realizable for a given manufacturing process.
"Ansoft seeks to provide our customers with every productivity advantage possible," said Nancy Lambert, Ansoft's vice president of research and development. "Optimetrics enables engineers to automate the design optimization process for even the most challenging high-performance electronic devices, identify desirable design features early in the development cycle and intelligently seek optimal values for design parameters that meet design targets, all while reducing engineering design time."
Optimetrics v4 also supports a Distributed Analysis option that enables users to concurrently solve parametric variations on separate machines within a network and then automatically reassemble the variations. This methodology allows for greater throughput of previously intractable parametric evaluations.
The combination of Ansoft's high-performance EDA software products and Optimetrics provides an efficient, automated design-optimization environment. When further complemented by the Distributed Analysis option, greater computational throughput is achieved, allowing engineers to deliver optimized, high-performance electronic designs in less time.
Pricing and Availability: Optimetrics is available on the following operating systems: Microsoft Windows(R) 2000, XP, Server 2003 and XP x64 Professional; Sun Solaris(R) 8 and 9; HP HP-UX 11.0 and 11.11; and Red Hat Enterprise Linux v3. For pricing information, contact your nearest Ansoft sales office.
About Optimetrics Optimetrics(TM) is an intelligent parametric and optimization engine that allows users to perform parametric analysis, optimization, sensitivity analysis and other design studies from an easy-to-use interface. An add-on module for Ansoft's electromagnetic-field solvers, Optimetrics is the only optimization tool on the market that allows users to leverage previously computed parametric simulation results in the optimizer. Applications include PCBs, IC packages, connectors, cell phones, antennas, microwave circuits, motors, solenoids, sensors and more. To learn more, please visit www.ansoft.com/optimetrics.
