CA's Clarity IT Governance Solution Available on Red Hat Linux
Tuesday, 27 September 2005 Computer Associates International, Inc. (NYSE: CA) today announced that its flagship IT Governance (ITG) solution, Clarity (formerly from Niku), is now available on the Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system. This extended platform support enables Clarity users to take advantage of the many benefits offered by this open source platform, including a broad choice of hardware options, development flexibility, greater ease of application integration and enhanced scalability.
Adoption of Linux in enterprise environments has been increasing rapidly, with IDC projecting the installed base of servers running Linux as a primary or non-primary operating system to grow at a 2003-2008 compound annual growth rate of more than 24 percent*. "As more and more enterprises choose Linux as a foundation for mission-critical enterprise applications, they must also leverage appropriate productivity tools," said Melinda Ballou, program director at IDC. "Effective portfolio optimization and IT governance can be enhanced by enabling users to take advantage of the performance, flexibility and reduced cost of ownership delivered via Linux platforms. This announcement extends CA commitment to open source and to enabling its customers to make the most of their enterprise Linux investments."
Clarity is part of CA's Business Service Optimization (BSO) set of solutions, which allow IT organizations to maximize value from resources, deliver high quality services, and drive efficiency gains. Clarity helps to enable IT governance, from investment selection, through execution and delivery of initiatives, to results assessment, all within a single, integrated enterprise application. The solution gives executives a real-time view into their organization's investments, initiatives and resources, and empowers managers to deliver projects and programs with control and efficiency.
"CA's commitment to open source and ongoing support of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system underscores the value that Linux brings to the enterprise," said Tim Yeaton, senior vice president of marketing at Red Hat. "CA customers now have a flexible, reliable and secure open source platform on which to leverage the Clarity solution for IT governance."
"CA continues to deliver unmatched support for corporate open source initiatives, with a wide range of enterprise-class solutions that leverage Linux and other open source technologies," said Helge Scheil, chief architect of Business Service Optimization at CA. "By making Clarity available on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, we are providing customers with the ability to leverage their open source OS investments to implement state-of-the-art IT governance and, along with our other BSO solutions, to better manage the business of IT."
Clarity on Red Hat Enterprise Linux is available immediately. Other CA products available on Red Hat Enterprise Linux provide comprehensive solutions for storage, systems, and security management. They include BrightStor ARCserve Backup for Linux, Unicenter Network and Systems Management, Unicenter ServicePlus Service Desk, Unicenter Asset Management, and eTrust SiteMinder.
