CMP Technology's VARBusiness Honors Leading Vendors at the 4th Annual Tech Innovators Awards

Last night at an awards ceremony, CMP Technology's VARBusiness magazine recognized the winners of its fourth annual Tech Innovator awards program, which recognizes vendors for outstanding achievement in technology innovation. The program represents all major categories of technology products.

"Each Tech Innovator Award winner is among a elite group of vendors driving innovative thinking and offering the most exceptional products, programs and technologies," said Lawrence M. The awards program is for products introduced, upgraded or completely revised during 2006, in 13 categories. Over 700 entries were received this year, and the winners are:

Additionally, IBM was named the VARBusiness Tech Innovator Company of the Year and Nat Friedman, VP of Linux Desktop Engineering at Novell was honored as Technologist of the Year.

Methodology

Nominated products were judged in two stages: a first-round examination by VARBusiness' team of technology editors, followed by a final selection by a panel of judges assembled from the solution-provider community. These judges ran the gamut in terms of knowledge and skill sets, from security technologies to network infrastructure to application development. Judges scored products on number of criteria: how new and improved the technology is, its price/performance ratio and finally, its money-making potential for solution providers.

The VARBusiness Tech Innovator awards will be published in the December 4 issue of VARBusiness. The 4th annual Tech Innovator awards are generously supported by: Adtran, UGS, IBM, Sun, Samsung, and Toshiba.
