Comodo Zeros In On Next Generation of Linux Usability

Thursday, 17 March 2005

Comodo, a leading provider of critical infrastructure solutions, has identified lack of usability as the critical hurdle standing between Linux and total back office server domination. Their response, the Zero Touch Linuxä project is a strategy designed to encourage open source adoption amongst businesses by removing the complexity usually associated with Linux server management and configuration. Comodo leverage a suite of highly intuitive user interfaces across a range of server applications on top of their secure Linux operating system, Trustixä OS.

“We need to live in a Zero Touch world if Linux and the open source model is to displace proprietary software in corporate back office infrastructures,” said Melih Abdulhayoglu, Comodo President and CEO, “Businesses are aware that Linux is the most stable and secure operating system available, but potential users are reluctant to adopt it due to its difficult configuration and use. We need to simplify the nexus of interaction between administrators and servers down to familiar point and click interfaces.”

Acquisitions such as PSOFT are important additions to the Zero Touch Linuxä proposition. HSphere and CP+ provide the user with an effortless, Windows style interface to transparently manage enterprise web server clusters. These complement existing members of the Zero Touch Linuxä portfolio like Trustix XSentry, the world’s first WYSIWYG configured enterprise firewall.

“If a company can seamlessly re-deploy its existing Windows trained staff into the administration of Linux based servers, they will be far more likely to make the migration towards Linux and the open source movement,” Abdulhayoglu continued, “Zero Touch Linuxä is realizing this concept for businesses on a worldwide scale - and the industry is listening!! We are in advanced OEM talks with several of the world’s largest server manufacturers who share our vision of secure, yet easily configured enterprise server infrastructures”

Administrators can download a free trial of the Zero Touch Linuxä solution CP+ and Trustix OS from the Trustix Website here
