Covalent and JBoss Partner to Provide Support for Open Source Web Applications
Friday, 4 March 2005Covalent Technologies, the Most Trusted Source for Apache since 1996, and JBoss, Inc., the Professional Open Source Company, today announced an agreement that will extend JBoss Professional Support to the Apache Web Server, the most widely deployed web server in Fortune 500 enterprises. JBoss customers deploying JBoss Application Server and Apache Jakarta Tomcat can now take advantage of production support for Apache Web Server through Covalent Technologies.
JBoss will become a member of the Covalent Certified Partners Program. Covalent Technologies, one of the Stewards and a longstanding member of the Apache Software Foundation (ASF), will ensure that the Apache Web Server and its associated components are certified and ready for the enterprise. The companies have also agreed to conduct joint marketing efforts to launch the new support offering.
"JBoss already provides enterprise-quality production support for market-leading open source products like JBoss Application Server and Tomcat. The addition of support for the Apache Web Server, the most widely deployed web server, can dramatically add to our customer base as well as enhance JBoss' position as a one-stop shop," said Brad Murdoch, vice president of services, JBoss, Inc. "It was a logical decision to create and launch a new support offering around Apache and to partner with Covalent, a respected and longstanding company in the open source community."
"Open source adoption in the enterprise continues to grow exponentially, and application servers are definitely at the forefront of the next wave," noted Mark Brewer, CEO, Covalent Technologies. "The next step in Covalent's evolution is to partner with another leading Professional Open Source company to create a complete offering for enterprise production environments. Covalent is pleased that JBoss, a company known to be a leader and innovator, will become a member of our Certified Partners Program."
