Directive Corporation Leverages Pervasive Software Integration for Rapid Deployment of Its Retail Data Mart Solution
Tuesday, 11 April 2006 Pervasive Software Inc. (Nasdaq: PVSW), a global value leader in data infrastructure software, today announced that Directive Corporation, a direct and interactive marketing services firm, has successfully implemented and deployed Pervasive Data Integrator and the PostgreSQL open source database. Directive uses Pervasive integration and database solutions for customer data integration (CDI) and large-scale customer database management. Through Pervasive's Data Integrator, customer data from a wide range of legacy systems, flat file structures and databases can be combined, structured, cleansed and output to Directive's powerful marketing data mart. Customer data is standardized and remediated using Data Integrator's comprehensive ETL functionality and then loaded into a flexible database structure built on PostgreSQL, with support by Pervasive. Directive Corporation is using the comprehensive functionality of the Pervasive solution to strengthen its customer intelligence system, Marketing Data Mart. Pervasive Data Integrator's ability to connect to hundreds of different source file formats gives Directive's system the ability to map a variety of incoming file formats, and then perform a series of data hygiene and integration tasks as the customer information is moved to the data mart. Data Integrator calls objects from third-party vendors that standardize and ZIP+4 code the address, convert fields to mixed upper and lower case, verify area codes and standardize phone number formats, check for vulgar or nonsense names, de-duplicate names and addresses, assign latitude and longitude and calculate distance to the store and supports advanced predictive analytics. In most competing customer intelligence solutions, these crucial data integration tasks are handled by separate software applications, each carrying substantial cost. Embedding these as objects within Data Integrator allows one system to handle all integration steps at greatly reduced cost and processing time. "We started the project with Pervasive on January 3, and completed it by March 6 -- less than three months. Data Integrator is not only cost effective, but easy to use, virtually eliminating the need for custom coding to work with our customers' data," said Frederick Barber, chief operating officer, Directive Corporation. "We had the added benefit of being able to go to Pervasive for both our data integration and database needs for an innovative yet affordable solution for our mid market customers-clearly the best of both worlds." Chip Harmon, general manager, Integration Products, Pervasive Software said, "Pervasive is in the business of value leadership. What we were able to do for Directive with our embedded integration solution and PostgreSQL open source database support is value optimization at its best. The Pervasive solution does the work for companies like Directive better, quicker, easier and more affordably." "Our clients are seeing a clear ROI. One initial client, a West Coast furniture retail chain, has seen significant ROI from their original investment," said Barber. For one new store grand opening, the Pervasive solution enabled Directive's Data Mart to generate a return on investment of over 400% in a three-month period through a highly personalized direct mail offer." Exemplifying the ease of use, Directive was able to point to the new store's data source and be fully functional with valid, deduplicated, clean data in less than 8 minutes versus a minimum of 8 hours. Combining deep knowledge and more than 20 years of integration and database management expertise, Pervasive provides easy-to-use, cost-effective software along with support, training and services. Pervasive's technology leadership delivers a single, universal integration platform that allows its customers to re-use the same software for integration scenarios that span data warehouses, real time application integration and data exchange with trading partners. With more than 150 data and application connectors within a single product, customers achieve unmatched ROI.
