EMC and Oracle Establish Joint Technology Development Center in China
Friday, 3 June 2005EMC Corporation, the world leader in information storage and management, and Oracle, the world's largest enterprise software company, today announced the establishment of a joint technology development center by EMC China and Oracle China (registered as Beijing Oracle Software Systems Co., Ltd.) in Beijing. With an aim to develop and showcase leading joint solutions to thousands of joint customers in Asia Pacific, it is the first such center outside the US and Europe for both parties and a new milestone in the strategic alliance between EMC and Oracle.
The solutions developed at the EMC-Oracle China Technology Development Center will help bring customers the benefit of more business value, less risk and lower total cost of ownership ( TCO ). The center also provides a framework for partners in Asia Pacific to build information lifecycle management ( ILM ) solutions on top of the EMC-Oracle joint infrastructure.
The joint technology center will be operated at the Oracle China Development Center in Beijing. It will be used to host product demonstrations and proof-of-concept testing with five major activities: customer visits, hands-on workshops, proof-of-concepts, partner events and partner cross education. At the center, customers will have the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of how to easily handle the challenges of managing growth of information with budget constraints and use integrated and tested solutions to reduce the complexity of information management, ensure business continuity, protection and minimal cost and realize compliance.
Doc D'Errico, vice president of EMC, said at the launch: "Through our alliances with Oracle and other partners, EMC is working hard to provide customers with best-of-breed technology as well as high-value, low-risk solutions that customers demand. Oracle is a strategic partner of EMC globally, and EMC is delighted to further that alliance in the Asia Pacific region via the establishment of this first joint technology center outside of the US and Europe." He added that the EMC-Oracle co-operation at either the technical level or marketing level will bring benefits to customers.
Pascal Sero, vice president of the Oracle China Development Centers, said: "Oracle has worked closely with EMC for 10 years now, and EMC is a key component of Oracle's grid computing strategy. This joint investment shows both companies' commitment to providing the best joint solutions to customers and partners across Asia Pacific." He added that as Oracle's technology powerbase, the Oracle China Development Center is a fitting place to develop world-class solutions like the EMC-Oracle ones and provide real-experience opportunities for customers.
Both parties will introduce their best practices developed in the US and Europe, and the joint technology development center will host live demonstrations of Oracle products running on the EMC storage infrastructure platform, demonstrate EMC's complete ILM products, platforms and software, show integration with Legato, VMware & Documentum, promote the EMC-Oracle joint accelerator solutions, and perform testing, certification of EMC and Asianux to add to Oracle's support matrix. As part of its important strategy in the future, EMC will promote its ILM strategy and complete solutions such as database solutions, application solutions, business continuity solutions and disaster recovery solutions. EMC will make the joint technology development center the second-line support center for the Asianux Linux platform covering Japan and China.
The joint technology development center between EMC China and Oracle China will best integrate and fully leverage the resources of both parties by aligning the technical and sales teams of EMC, Oracle and Dell and leveraging venues to host proof-of-concept testing, technology training, joint marketing and customer events.
