EMC Technology Summit 2005 Draws Record Gathering of Customers, Partners

Saturday, 21 May 2005

EMC Corporation, the world leader in information storage and management, today completed its largest customer and partner conference ever and the most comprehensive conference dedicated to information lifecycle management (ILM). More than 3,000 EMC customers and partners -- senior IT professionals and technologists from nearly 60 countries -- attended the fifth annual EMC Technology Summit amid a backdrop of major EMC product and alliance announcements. Customer and partner attendance increased by more than 20% compared with the record attendance at EMC Technology Summit 2004 in Orlando, reflecting EMC's status as one of the fastest-growing major IT providers in the world.

Joe Tucci, EMC President and CEO, addressed attendees and described a changing technology landscape that both vendors and IT professionals must navigate. Tucci commented, "You are being asked by your organizations to provide technology answers to today's most difficult business challenges. EMC, with the support of its partners, is working hard to provide you with best-of- breed technology and the high-value, low-risk solutions your organizations demand. Expect EMC to keep innovating for your success so we can have even more industry-leading products to share with you next year."

Highlights of EMC Technology Summit 2005 included:
* The introduction and live demonstration of Invista(TM), the world's
first network storage virtualization solution designed to run on
intelligent storage area network (SAN) switch platforms from Brocade,
Cisco and McData (see separate release).
* New joint professional services offerings from EMC and SAP to help SAP
customers deploy a successful ILM strategy and new EMC technology
designed to help customers more effectively manage their SAP
environments (see separate release).
* Major keynotes from senior executives at Oracle and SAP as well as
senior EMC executives representing the company's market-leading
platforms and software offerings as well as its future technology
directions.
* A unique, interactive panel discussion among members of the EDS Agility
Alliance, featuring leading technologists from EMC, Cisco, Oracle, Sun
and EDS.
* Nearly 400 technical sessions, lectures, live demonstrations and hands-
on workshops covering 185 different ILM topics.
* On-site EMC Proven Professional testing and certification for attendees.

EMC Technology Summit Diamond Sponsors AT&T, Microsoft, Oracle and SAP led a list of more than 60 EMC partner companies highlighting their technology to attendees. Additional participants included Premier Sponsor EDS and Platinum Sponsors BearingPoint, Inc., Brocade Communications Systems, Inc., Ciena Corporation, Cisco Systems, Inc., McDATA Corporation, QLogic Corporation, Sun Microsystems, Inc., Unisys Corporation and Verizon Enterprise Solutions Group.
