Empower Technologies(TM) Introduces New Products at the Texas Instruments Worldwide Developers Conference 2006
Monday, 27 February 2006 Delivering an out-of-the-box embedded Linux solution to consumer electronics developers, Empower Technologies (Empower) is pleased to announce the release of the LinuxDA for OMAP5912 Development Kit (LDK5912), based on TI's OMAP5912 dual-core processor. Additionally, Empower is pleased to announce the completion of the OMAP 591x family development platform. A one-stop development solution, Empower's LDK5912 comes complete with both hardware and software offerings that enable developers to create reference consumer electronics products at significantly reduced development time, risk and cost. The kit runs LinuxDA out of the box, so developers can use the LDK5912 to compile, download and test applications within minutes of set-up. Working alongside TI, Empower optimized the LinuxDA operating software for TI's OMAP5912 dual-core digital signal processor (DSP) and ARM CPU to initiate a higher level of performance for intelligent devices with increased headroom for applications and expansion capabilities that best suit the needs of today's consumer electronics developers, manufacturers and end users. "Empower has consistently provided simple, scalable and versatile solutions based on Texas Instruments' OMAP(TM) processors. Harnessing the performance of TI's OMAP5912 processor and the flexibility of LinuxDA operating software, the LDK5912 is ideal for applications that require high- performance, real-time signal processing with low-power consumption," said Greg Mar, Worldwide System-On-Chip Platform Manager, Texas Instruments. One of the key advantages of the LDK5912 is its ability to support multiple programs and algorithms optimized for the DSP. These applications supported by LinuxDA and the LDK5912 include examples for developers on how LinuxDA can interact with the DSP codecs. Documentation in the box also shows developers how to develop and download DSP codecs for their own custom device applications using an available JTAG interface and the TI Code Composer Studio(TM) Integrated Development Environment. This robust functionality reduces software development time and empowers designers to take full advantage of the performance of TI's OMAP processor. "The marriage of Empower's LinuxDA and TI's OMAP5912 processor will directly benefit developers of devices such as smart phones, PDAs, mobile data terminals and other wireless hand held electronics who require their products to be smaller, faster and more powerful," said Alex Romanov, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Empower Technologies. The LDK5912 will be officially unveiled to the world at the upcoming TI Developers Conference with many of the top DSP programmers and TI executives in attendance. The conference which runs from February 28th to March 2nd, 2006 in Dallas, Texas is widely regarded as one of the most, high powered gatherings of DSP programmers and developers in the world. The LDK5912 will be available for $900 USD at www.empowertechnologies.com.
