Enhanced VIN Search 2.0 Descriptions Added to New Version of Chrome Engine(TM)
Monday, 22 August 2005Chrome Systems, Inc., a provider of data, configuration technology and commerce solutions for the automotive industry, today announced a new release of its Chrome Engine(TM) vehicle inventory processing software. Engine is a stand-alone application that dramatically simplifies the process of creating complex, rich and accurate descriptions of vehicles -- thousands at a time -- from the smallest amounts of input data. The data can be exported to a local file and forwarded to multiple sites, helping businesses to better market their vehicles.
Chrome Engine has been enhanced to include the VIN Search 2.0 data. With this release, the inventory system gives users more accurate vehicle matching, as well as improved reconciliation logic, helping to ensure correct matches on high-demand equipment descriptions. Chrome Engine now also features seamless support for Linux users.
"This release is especially notable because it completes the rollout of our robust VIN Search 2.0 data product throughout our core applications," said David Mingle, Chrome's president. "All major Chrome products now carry the same deep level of rich vehicle details, enabling us to remain the de facto industry standard for vehicle descriptions."
VIN Search 2.0 is a data source file that relates US or Canadian vehicle identification numbers to specific equipment or option details on any individual vehicle or small group of vehicles, supporting model year data as far back as 1987. The processed result of the VIN Search product is a short, explicit description of the vehicle that includes engine, engine size, transmission type availability, and a number of additional options, including safety restraints, power features, ABS, and stereo. Through the association of a proprietary and unique ID number, VIN data can be related to Chrome's New Vehicle Data to create comprehensive descriptions.
Chrome Engine(TM) is used by content aggregators, insurance companies, fleet companies and Web site listing services.
