Unisys Helps Wetherill Remove the RISC From Its ERP System

Unisys Corporation (NYSE:UIS) today announced that Wetherill Associates Inc. (WAI) has migrated from three Sun Microsystems (NYSE:SUNW) Unix-based servers to two Intel-based Unisys ES7000 servers. These ES7000s are powering WAI's Baan ERP software and the Oracle 9i databases that support it.

Wetherill decided to upgrade from its Sun/Unix platform when a pending acquisition signaled the need for the company to consolidate various processes from multiple locations. Wetherill needed a proven platform that could support its Oracle database and its recently customized Baan applications.

Unisys demonstrated performance gains in a variety of ERP processes that resulted in increases up to 400 percent greater for certain jobs than on their aging Sun system. Unisys also worked to optimize a seamless Baan-Windows compatibility for the application, and Oracle-Windows compatibility for the database. This also resulted in significant performance increases. Reports that once required 14 hours to process now take less than two hours. Invoice reports, which previously took up to five hours to run, can now be completed in just 70 minutes.
