Heroix Announces Support for SQL Server 2005 Performance Monitoring and Reporting
Wednesday, 28 September 2005Heroix (http://www.heroix.com), a leading provider of application performance management software, today announced support for SQL Server 2005 performance monitoring and reporting. Heroix Longitude, the company's new agentless monitoring and reporting product for Windows, Linux, and Unix, has been validated for use with SQL Server 2005, pending the official SQL Server 2005 launch, which Microsoft has announced will be November 7, 2005.
First launched in May (http://heroix.com/news/news_press148.htm), Longitude is agentless monitoring software that enables IT organizations to improve application, database, and system performance without requiring software to be installed on each server. The Longitude SQL Server monitoring solution provides comprehensive SQL Server performance reporting and graphing, and detects and alerts database staff to a wide array of SQL Server performance issues (e.g., memory, caching, paging, disk utilization, CPU bottlenecks) as well as database errors (e.g., failed connections, failed space allocations, deadlocks, corrupt databases) and potential operational problems (e.g., low disk space for the database, transaction logs that are too full).

Longitude can be deployed in production in 15 minutes and is self-maintaining and self-updating, thereby delivering quick ROI and lower acquisition and ongoing maintenance costs. "Longitude is designed to eliminate complexity from application, database, and system monitoring," said Howard Reisman, Heroix founder and CEO. "Longitude delivers the kind of deep monitoring that historically required the installation of agent software, enabling customers to enjoy enterprise class monitoring more affordably and with dramatically reduced deployment and ongoing maintenance requirements." A free 14-day evaluation of Longitude agentless monitoring software can be requested at http://www.heroix.com/aspscript/script_demo_form.asp?vSource=SQLPRTRIAL, by e-mailing FreeTrial@heroix.com or calling 800.229.6500. For a limited time, Heroix is offering a 1-day deployment guarantee. Heroix guarantees that initial deployment of Longitude will take no longer than one day or the company will provide a 6-month software subscription at no cost to qualified organizations.
In addition to monitoring SQL Server, Longitude collects hundreds of critical performance monitoring operational metrics for Microsoft Windows®, RED HAT® Linux, SuSE® Linux, Solaris™, HP-UX®, AIX®, Apache™ Web Server, IIS, Oracle®, Exchange, IBM WebSphere®, BEA WebLogic®, and JBoss®. Longitude alerts IT and database staff to problems, and presents events and integrated reports via an intuitive dashboard that allows users to quickly and easily assess the "big picture" of performance problems, and then drill down to view problem details.
