IDG World Expo and IDC Launch LinuxWorld Events in Poland and Spain
Wednesday, 9 November 2005IDG World Expo, the leading producer of world-class tradeshows, conferences and events for technology markets and IDC today announced the launch of LinuxWorld Summits in Poland and Spain. Under a license agreement, IDC will stage a LinuxWorld Summit - a conference driven version of the popular LinuxWorld Conference & Expo(R) in each country. Both events are scheduled to take place in the Spring of 2006. Actual dates will be announced shortly. IDC will be working in close cooperation with IDG World Expo, owners of the LinuxWorld brand.
The relationship with IDG World Expo will enable IDC to access high profile conference speakers and also benefit from the experience IDG World Expo has gained in rolling out this event in 19 countries throughout the world. LinuxWorld Summit will be the largest dedicated Open Source event in both Poland and Spain. It is perfectly timed to capture the enthusiasm for Linux as a viable enterprise option. IDC has projected that the total market for Linux devices and software will jump from $US11 billion in 2004 to $US35.7 billion by 2008.
"Linux is already well entrenched amongst end users and business in Poland and Spain," said Bianca W. Bruhn, VP, IDC EMEA Conferences Group. "The event will create a unique opportunity for end users and developers to learn from industry leaders in this fast paced and exciting market."
"IDG World Expo has events that reach every corner of the globe, and this license agreement is a perfect fit for us, because Poland and Spain are important markets where technology companies are trying to capture the attention and loyalty of influential buyers," said David Korse, CEO of IDG World Expo. "IDC is recognized worldwide as the leading source for research, analysis and consulting services on all aspects of IT markets, and we are excited to partner with them in this venture. The LinuxWorld brand has had extremely strong growth throughout the world, and we now produce 22 LinuxWorld events in 19 countries."
