JasperSoft Unveils New JBoss Reporting Portal at JBoss World Barcelona
Monday, 10 October 2005 JasperSoft, the leader in commercial open source reporting solutions and a JBoss Open Source Federation member, today announced availability of the JBoss Reporting Portal by JasperReports, the industry's first open source reporting technology integrated with the JBoss Application Server and JBoss Portal technologies.
The JBoss integration module is designed to simplify reporting for organizations running enterprise applications with the open source, J2EE JBoss software. Already a popular JasperReports download, it allows for easier viewing and administration of JasperReports tables and charts from within the JBoss Application Server and JBoss Portal environments. JasperReports Founder and Architect Teodor Danciu will be demonstrating the solution at JBossWorld, booth #6, in Barcelona this week.
"Technologies like JasperReports and JBoss Portal are growing quickly for their ability to provide essential functionality at a very low cost of ownership. Easier integration between the two technologies will be useful to IT professionals looking to extend open source beyond the application server level," said Al Campa, founder and executive vice president, JasperSoft. "Through our growing partnership with JBoss, Java developers will now find it easier than ever before to deliver rich reporting functionality with their JBoss applications."
JasperReports is the world's most popular open source reporting engine. Downloaded more than 750,000 times, JasperReports has been deployed in 10,000 leading companies and ISVs in at least 50 countries. An industry standard, it is integrated with JBoss and MySQL.
"We're pleased to see strong community participation and such a significant contribution from JasperSoft made available so soon after the release of JBoss Portal 2.0. JasperSoft's reporting portal, which is tested and optimized for interoperability with JBoss, will be a great asset to Java developers using open source at the application level," said Pierre Fricke, director of product management, JBoss, Inc.
With the JBoss Reporting Portal by JasperReports, Java developers will be able to utilize portlets that provide integration with JBoss Portal, making it easy to run, view, store and administer JasperReports from within the JBoss Portal environment or any other JSR168-compliant portal. Integration with additional content also is possible.
In addition, JBoss Reporting Portal by JasperReports eases integration of JasperReports into any J2EE application server including JBoss, with: -- Enhanced image handling; -- Improved access to JNDI data sources; and -- Streamlined report compilation.
