Jataayu Software extends partnership with MontaVista; Joins Mobilinux Open Framework Partner Program
Monday, 3 October 2005Jataayu Software (Jataayu), a leading vendor of mobile device solutions, today announced that it has joined the Mobilinux Open Framework Partner Program. MontaVista’s Mobilinux Open Framework is a program designed to increase the adoption of Linux within the mobile phone industry by providing handset vendors and mobile operators with solutions consisting of components from best of breed mobile software providers and MontaVista’s Mobilinux OS platform. The primary goal of this program is to provide mobile handset vendors and operators with the architectural freedom to create and deliver differentiated products and services. Through this program, mobile handset vendors are enabled to build and ship devices featuring the latest technologies more quickly and more efficiently, while reducing overall development costs.
The Mobilinux Open Framework addresses needs in the mobile market by bringing together Semiconductor Vendors, Independent Software Vendors, and Integrators to create Linux based reference architectures and provide application-consulting services for Handset Vendors, Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs), and Mobile Operators looking to develop Linux phones.
With Linux becoming the operating platform of choice for handset manufacturers requiring a robust and high-performance operating system, Jataayu has been closely working with MontaVista and is targeting to deliver its messaging and browsing solutions including MMS, IMPS and Mobile browser solutions on Mobilinux 4.0 by the end of the year.
“We are excited at the opportunity of extending our partnership with MontaVista by participating in the Mobilinux Open Framework. By extending our involvement in the MontaVista partner eco-system, Jataayu can effectively address the requirements of Mobilinux enabled hardware platform vendors and ODMs looking to quickly introduce full-featured, multimedia mobile devices in the market”, commented Anil Krishnan, GM-Marketing, Terminal Solutions, Jataayu Software. He further added that, “Our optimized messaging and browsing solutions perfectly complement the flexibility offered by the Mobilinux Open Framework in delivering modular mobile phone software architecture for differentiated phone designs.”
“We look forward to working with Jataayu to deliver best of breed solutions that combine the best of Mobilinux and Jataayu solutions, making it easy for handset manufacturers and operators to deliver compelling, Linux-based mobile handsets and services,” said Peder Ulander, vice president of marketing at MontaVista Software.
