Joomla! Book Announced
Sunday, 11 December 2005Following a successful launch in September 2005, the Joomla! project is now showing further recognition with the announcement of a book being published on the award winning Content Management System.
Published by Packt, Building Websites with Joomla!, is a step-by-step tutorial to getting a Joomla! website up in as short a time as possible and is the first English language book to be released on this youthful, yet mature CMS.
Winner of the Best Linux / Open Source Project for 2005 at the prestigious Linux & Open Source Awards in London, Joomla! is a fully featured web content management system. It was created in the Summer of 2005 as a fork from the hugely popular Mambo CMS, with many of the original Mambo developers moving their efforts to Joomla! Whilst being easy to use at the entry level for creating basic websites, Joomla! also has the power and flexibility to support complex web applications.
In Building Websites with Joomla!, author Hagen Graf explains essential tasks clearly, with well structured step-by-step instructions. The book does not aim to cover every feature of Joomla! nor is it a comprehensive guide to extending Joomla!. Therefore, almost everything in the book is accomplished without recourse to the underlying PHP code in which Joomla! is written. The book is very readable and Hagen Graf conveys a particularly chatty and engaging writing style.
This book is suitable for web developers, designers, webmasters, content editors and marketing professionals who want develop a fully featured web presence in a simple and straightforward process.
Building Websites with Joomla! will be released in February 2006, for more information, please visit: www.PacktPub.com/joomla/book For more information about Joomla! please visit www.Joomla.org
