Kirix Delivers Software Upgrade For Award-winning Strata
Friday, 23 September 2005Kirix Corporation announced the much-anticipated follow-up release to Kirix Strata, its ad hoc data mining and analysis software for Windows and the Linux desktop. Upon its unveiling in February 2005, Strata won the Product Excellence Award for Best Desktop / Productivity / Business Application at the LinuxWorld Conference and Expo held in Boston, MA.
Combining a high-performance data engine and a spreadsheet-like interface, Strata provides an optimal environment for manipulating and analyzing data. Kirix Strata 2005.1 delivers even more flexibility, connectivity and analytic power than its predecessor.
Strata 2005.1 significantly enhances its functionality with regular expression support. Combined with Strata's dynamic calculated fields, regular expressions instantly extract values from fields within a database instead of requiring constant requerying in order to present the results to a user.
Strata 2005.1 also includes a friendly, graphical fixed-length text import system that enables users to easily define fields, types and precisions on the fly. Other additions include extended flexibility in the query builder, support for the Linspire operating system and a host of other usability and functionality enhancements.
"We are very pleased with the additional features that Strata 2005.1 brings to the table," stated Aaron Williams, Chief Scientist of Kirix Corporation. "We have been eagerly anticipating the power that comes from regular expression functionality. Combining this enhancement with the other features in the package makes Strata an ideal tool for manipulating and analyzing data."
Data analysts and other interested parties may obtain an evaluation version of Strata for Windows or the Linux desktop at the Kirix Web site. Kirix Strata is also immediately available at the Kirix online store (www.kirix.com/store). Strata costs $125 per year for a subscription license or $425 for a perpetual license, plus a $45 annual maintenance fee for product updates. For more information, please visit www.kirix.com.
