Lufthansa Systems Implements PKWARE's Cross-Platform SecureZIP Solutions to Protect Information Exchanged
Tuesday, 10 January 2006PKWARE, the leading provider of cross-platform solutions for secure and efficient data transfer and storage, today announced that Lufthansa Systems, one of the world's leading IT service providers for the airline and aviation industry, has deployed SecureZIP across its mainframe, server and desktop computing platforms. Lufthansa Systems installed PKWARE's SecureZIP data protection solution to help it manage confidential information and achieve compliance with strict data privacy regulations. Lufthansa Systems is using SecureZIP to transfer sensitive information across its global network and with its external partners and customers. SecureZIP enables this by leveraging the ubiquitous ZIP file archiving format to create a "trusted data container" that is portable across a wide spectrum of IT environments, ranging from desktops to data centers. This interoperability, together with ease of installation and support, make SecureZIP the clear choice over other data security solutions. SecureZIP's unique combination of data encryption and data compression provides a reliable, efficient, and cost-effective means for Lufthansa Systems to securely transfer large amounts of data to its customers, no matter what computing platforms or security infrastructures they use.
PKWARE worked in partnership with its German reseller, net Stemmer GmbH, to execute a phased rollout of SecureZIP at Lufthansa Systems. The combined industry knowledge and expertise of PKWARE and net Stemmer in implementing enterprise solutions resulted in a smooth deployment of SecureZIP on Lufthansa Systems' UNIX servers. After the successful introduction, SecureZIP became a company-wide solution for Lufthansa Systems, with the installation of SecureZIP on their zSeries mainframe and other computing platforms.
"A key factor in Lufthansa Systems' decision to implement SecureZIP was its ease of deployment and use, and the confidence they had in our solutions," said Todd McLees, Vice President of International Business for PKWARE. "We have been working with Lufthansa Systems since 2000, initially with our PKZIP data compression solutions, which were operating within their data center. With the introduction of SecureZIP, we have expanded the scale and scope of our relationship to address Lufthansa System's data privacy needs. We're extremely pleased to be working with such a respected IT service provider and we look forward to supporting its future data management requirements."
Lufthansa Systems joins an impressive list of European organizations, including Deutsche Telecom, France Telecom, Peugeot, Banque Accord, and Credit Agricole, which have successfully deployed PKWARE's enterprise data management and security solutions.
PKWARE's solutions are in use by 90 percent of Fortune 100 enterprises to mitigate the risk of unintended data compromise and reduce IT infrastructure costs. Built on the widely-adopted and interoperable ZIP archiving standard, SecureZIP provides state-of-the-art encryption and digital signature capabilities. SecureZIP enables organizations to protect the confidentiality, authenticity and integrity of their data in a manner that addresses common obstacles to wide-scale security adoption -- both inside and outside their organizations.
