New All-In-One PC Running Windows and Linux
Thursday, 9 December 2004New York City based Penguin Desktops Inc will begin offering a new line of All-In-One PCs dubbed the Advantage X8. Just in time for the holiday season the X8 will be available to ship out on Dec 3, 2004. The All-In-One PC integrates the monitor and desktop into one space saving package. The Advantage X8 uses high-end components with a Pentium 4 processor, Serial ATA technology and DDR 400 memory. The All-In-One PC is targeted to consumers or business customers who seek a sleek, space-saving design but who don’t want to give up performance they are used to having on a their desktop. The Advantage X8 will come with an array of upgrade options such DVD recording and wireless technology. Customers looking for a stylish computer will appreciate the silver finish of the X8 and the 17 inch display. The X8 will run on Windows XP professional or Home, Linspire 4.5, Xandros Business Edition, SuSe Linux 9.1 and Red Hat Linux Enterprise Workstation. The X8 was introduced to give customers a space saving computer without the proprietary vendor lock-in, since the X8 can be upgraded with industry standard components. Being the first LCD PC to run Linux and Windows was based on Penguin Desktops goal of giving their customers the greatest variety of systems possible.
