On2 Technologies Launches Linux Video Encoding SDK for Macromedia Flash Player 8

ONT) today announced the immediate availability of the On2 Flix Engine for
Linux. On2\'s newest video encoding engine for the Linux platform was developed
for the rapidly-growing segment of personal publishing, video sharing and
video blogging web sites that are increasingly distributing video content for
playback with the Macromedia(R) Flash(R) Player 8 from Adobe.
The On2 Flix Engine for Linux extends the Company\'s signature high quality
and high performance video compression capabilities to these customers while
also adding significant new enhancements to boost image quality, compression
performance and creative flexibility.
The On2 Flix Engine for Linux provides video-enabled web site developers
with a custom-built video encoding solution that can be run locally on a
server, or across a network. Currently, these web sites are using large
\"server farms,\" or clusters of networked servers, to encode thousands of hours
of video per day. The On2 Flix Engine for Linux enables these customers to
manage this volume of encoding while leveraging their existing investment in
the Linux operating systems that power their sites.
On2 Flix Engine for Linux ships as a binary shared object and supports
access from popular programming and scripting languages such as C/C++, Java,
PHP, Python and Perl.
