Oracle and Zend Partner on Development and Deployment Foundation for PHP-Based Applications
Thursday, 19 May 2005Oracle and Zend Technologies, Inc., the PHP company, and creator of products and services supporting the development, deployment and management of PHP-based applications, today announced that the companies have partnered to produce Zend Core for Oracle( r ) -- a fully tested and supported, free download that will deliver tight integration between Oracle Database and Zend's supported PHP environment, enabling developers to get up and running in minutes with PHP and Oracle infrastructure. PHP is an open-source application integration infrastructure used for developing web applications and is one of the fastest growing scripting languages today. Scheduled for availability in CQ3, Zend Core for Oracle will deliver reliability, productivity and flexibility to run PHP applications tightly integrated with Oracle Database. Zend will offer support and updates for Zend Core for Oracle, which will be compatible with Zend's existing products such as Zend Platform and Zend Studio.
"Oracle continues to support the open source and PHP developer community by providing them with a robust and proven infrastructure for development with our industry leading technology products including Oracle Application Server and Oracle Database," said Christophe Job, vice president, Oracle Application Server Development. "PHP developers recognize the need for a secure and reliable database to support and scale their business-critical applications and services. Our partnership with Zend is yet another sign of our commitment to making Oracle 10g the infrastructure software of choice for PHP developers."
"A significant percentage of Zend's customers are creating applications using Oracle Database, demonstrating the suitability of PHP as the backbone of enterprise applications," said Doron Gerstel, president and CEO of Zend Technologies. "Through our partnership with Oracle, PHP developers now have access to all the infrastructure necessary to build and deploy highly-reliable applications for enterprises of all sizes."
