Pervasive Software to Host March 22 Webinar on Open Source Databases

(Nasdaq: PVSW), a global value leader in data infrastructure software, today announced that it will host a Webinar entitled "Open Source Databases: How to Decide if They're Right for Your Company," on March 22 at 2 p.m. EST. The Webinar will address the dramatic changes that have occurred in the database market as a result of the inroads made by open source databases. The Webinar will also address whether open source databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL are ready for widespread enterprise use. The event will feature presentations by Donald Feinberg, vice president and distinguished analyst, Gartner Inc., Mike Hoskins, chief technology officer, Pervasive Software and cases from users of open source databases. Mr. Feinberg's presentation will provide an overview of the current state of database options, including open source adoption rates, best use cases, and key applications. Mr. Hoskins' presentation will cover the history and concepts of open source databases, integration and application issues, key points to consider when evaluating options and comparisons of the leading options, including MySQL and PostgreSQL. About the presenters: Donald Feinberg is a vice president and distinguished analyst in Gartner Intelligence in the Enterprise Operations & BI group. Mr. Feinberg is responsible for Gartner's research on database management systems and data warehousing infrastructure. Mr. Feinberg has held various management jobs within Gartner, most recently vice president and general manager of Latin America operations. Mr. Feinberg began his career at Gartner in the Strategic Data Management group responsible for DBMS engines and vendors. Mr. Feinberg was also an assistant professor of mathematics at Boston University. Mr. Feinberg resides in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
