SafeDesk Enterprise Server 2.0 Released

Tuesday, 6 September 2005

SafeDesk Solutions, a leading provider of Linux based thin-client solutions is further strengthening its industry leadership with the 2.0 release of its core product SafeDesk Enterprise Server 2.0. SafeDesk Enterprise Server 2.0, a Linux thin-client software bundle, brings Windows compatibility to the Linux desktop and actively enables users to deploy, integrate and manage disparate systems.

SafeDesk Enterprise Server 2.0 provides extensive support for customers who want the benefits of Linux Terminal Services but still need to run native Microsoft applications. SafeDesk Enterprise Server 2.0's integrated management tools are designed to enable quick integration within both Linux and Non-Linux infrastructures as well as with other thin-client systems and protocols. Additionally, the product has been optimized for the SUSE Linux family of applications, as well as the full spectrum of Novell and other Linux, open-source, and Microsoft-based software products.

"We believe that application compatibility, manageability and system interoperability are the keys for Linux to be successful on the desktop. In SafeDesk Enterprise Server 2.0, users not only can run a fully functional Windows operating system, with support of the RDP protocol which allows for integration with Microsoft Terminal Services. We have made every effort to develop with the end-user in mind, and have taken extreme care to address all perceived limitations of desktop Linux. The result is that we have created a network bundle with a broad range of applications and capabilities for both the education and business market segments," says Phil Autrey, President of SafeDesk Solutions.

Richard Nelson, technology manager of the Mountain Grove ( Missouri ) School District, has become a SafeDesk thin-client champion. Over 100 of the district's 700 computers have been converted to SafeDesk's Linux system. "SafeDesk enabled the district to continue using older computers and avoided major headaches and maintenance costs. "It's just about idiot-proof; the district's technology staff used to spend 45 minutes to set up a typical student machine equipped with standard Microsoft software. Now it takes just five minutes to set up each SafeDesk PC."

SafeDesk Enterprise 2.0 will be available through channel partners and via direct sales beginning in September 2005.

SafeDesk Solutions ( www.safedesksolutions.com ), provides commercial development and integration support for Linux Terminal Services. This allows organizations with limited resources or expertise to deploy and integrate a Linux Terminal Service network and benefit from the values of both Linux and Thin-Client computing.
