Saturday, 13 August 2005Scalix Corporation's newly introduced, free version of its highly-acclaimed email and calendaring solution on Linux has won top honors at the LinuxWorld Conference and Expo in San Francisco. Scalix Community Edition, introduced at the show, was crowned winner of the Messaging Category, an honor the company also received for its email and calendaring software at LinuxWorld Boston in February 2005.
Scalix Community Edition is a free, unlimited use version of the company's flagship Enterprise Edition. It makes email and calendaring available to any organization, delivering unprecedented levels of robustness and functionality in free email software. It includes a full version of Scalix's industrial-strength server and Scalix Web Access (SWA), a revolutionary cross-browser, cross-platform web client that delivers desktop-grade functionality in a web application.
Since Community Edition debuted on August 8, thousands of organizations throughout the world have downloaded the software. The software, which is available to anyone, can be downloaded at http://www.scalix.com/communityedition. Scalix Community Edition was created in response to demand by organizations looking for an affordable email and calendaring platform that can support the varying functional needs of different types of users. These organizations, such as large retail and manufacturing companies and academia, commonly have workforces that include both knowledge workers and those with less frequent email needs.
The Scalix product line, which includes both the free Community Edition and the commercial Enterprise Edition, now provides these organizations with a single, unified messaging platform to meet their diverse needs. The LinuxWorld Product Excellence Awards recognize product and service innovations by LinuxWorld exhibitors. Divided into 14 categories, the LinuxWorld Product Excellence Awards represent major areas of innovation in the Linux and Open Source Community. Judges were a group of respected industry experts managed by LinuxWorld Magazine.
