Softletter to Host Industry's First Conference on Open Source Software Marketing
Thursday, 1 September 2005Softletter, the company that disseminates business insights for software developers and publishers, today announced that it will host a new conference addressing a fast emerging market concern: Marketing and Selling Open Source Software 2005. Marketing and Selling Open Source Software 2005 will be presented on both the East and the West coasts this fall: Oct. 6-7 in Burlington, Mass.; and Nov. 10-11 in San Jose, Calif. Featuring expert speakers on applications, licensing, marketing strategy, legal issues and more, the two-day conference for executives and sales and marketing managers will help companies understand how Open Source is impacting their bottom lines -- and how to make that impact positive.
"Open Source has made the transition from a novelty to a powerful economic force in the software industry," said Merrill R. (Rick) Chapman, event chairman for Softletter's Marketing and Selling Open Source Software 2005. "Today, thousands of companies worldwide are integrating and buying Open Source software and technology for their firms. Many more are evaluating Open Source software for future purchases. Marketing and Selling Open Source Software 2005 will share strategies for success in the explosive market for Open Source products and services, offering software developers and publishers a unique opportunity to focus on the business realities of selling Open Source."
Attendees at this first of its kind seminar will benefit from the collective expertise of speakers from leading software companies and organizations; from networking at discussion sessions to detailed case studies and analyses illustrating key elements of the business of Open Source software. Companies that develop, sell, license or compete with Open Source software -- or that hope to -- will benefit greatly from management attendance at these important seminars. Registration for each of the two-day conferences is $895 per attendee, with a $100 discount for registrations received before Sept. 30, 2005. Discounts are also available when companies send multiple attendees: $100 registration discount for the second attendee; $200 discount each for the third and subsequent attendees from the same company. Attendance is limited to 150 people per session. For more information on the conference, or to register, visit www.softletter.com, or call the company's headquarters toll-free at 888-479-6663; or at 781-407-9013.
