State of Utah Receives Highest Honor for Best Overall Performance Nationally in Administration of the Unemployment Insurance (UI) Program
Thursday, 2 November 2006 The State of Utah will be honored today by the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) for attaining the best overall performance nationally in administration of the unemployment insurance (UI) program. USDOL recognizes state workforce agencies that have demonstrated the highest levels of performance in key areas of state UI operations, including UI Benefits, Taxes, and Appeals. Utah will receive the highest honor, the Pinnacle Award, which goes to the state with the top annual performance overall, at an awards ceremony in Denver Colorado at a conference attended by state UI Directors from across the Nation. "We are proud and honored to receive this award. Attaining this honor requires a genuine commitment from staff, management, and our partners to focus on exceptional performance and develop and implement work processes to achieve them. Automation of work processes has been a critical element of our past success and will continue to drive our success in the coming years," said Bill Starks, the Director of Unemployment Insurance for the State of Utah. Versata was a true partner in Utah's most recent automation endeavor because they brought both superior technology and the people that could work with Utah to deliver a complete, custom solution. The software solution underlying Utah's new UI Benefits operations, called the Comprehensive Unemployment Benefits System (CUBS), was developed using Versata's Business Rules Management Solution (BRMS). Using the Versata BRMS, the State of Utah and Versata created a real-time, paperless system that starts with a claim filed by a claimant and follows through a long sequence of mandatory events that transform it into a bank deposit or debit card made to the claimant. Versata provides a foundation that is scalable, flexible, and easy to change, all with fast time to deployment. About Versata Versata Enterprises, Inc., and its family of companies, is the leading provider of enterprise software solutions that deliver business results, performance, and scalability with a low total cost of ownership. Versata's patented solutions decrease IT costs by eliminating expensive maintenance, by leveraging open source technology, and by accelerating value delivery to business customers. Versata partners with corporate IT departments to enhance and simplify critical operations in the automotive, financial services, consumer/public, government, and manufacturing industries.
