Sun Microsystems Federal, Inc., and GSA Renew Supply Schedule Contract Through August 2009
Thursday, 2 November 2006 Sun Microsystems Inc. (Nasdaq: SUNW), today announced that Sun Microsystems Federal, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary, renewed its Multiple Award Schedule Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) contract with the General Services Administration (GSA) to continue to supply its full array of products and services to the U.S. Government through August 2009, continuing a long term business-to-business relationship between Sun and GSA. Sun's complete line of sustainable computing and military grade security products and services including the open source Solaris operating system, breakthrough Sun Fire(TM) servers and Sun Ray(TM) 2 Thin Clients will be available to the federal government and other entities entitled to purchase products and services off of the GSA Schedule. "Through our long and successful relationship with the GSA, we have seen, first hand, how the GSA streamlines the federal procurement process for both government purchasers and vendors," said Bill Vass, president and COO of Sun Microsystems Federal, Inc. "We look forward to continuing our partnership with GSA and maintaining our focus on developing products and services that enable the federal government to better serve and protect its citizens." The GSA Schedule helps federal agencies better serve the public by negotiating on behalf of all federal government agencies to provide the best value for acquisition services and process management. Although not a federal endorsement, previous performance, customer satisfaction, and relationship to commercial practices are factors considered by GSA in the award or renewal of GSA Schedule contracts.
