Tall Maple Announces New Samara Appliance Management Platform Software
Monday, 21 February 2005Tall Maple Systems announced today immediate availability of its new appliance management platform software products, SamaraTM 2.0 and Samara Central Management Console ( CMC ).
The company's core technology product, Samara 2.0, is appliance management platform software that helps Linux Internet appliance start-ups and vendors accelerate their product development efforts by shortening development time by 12 - 18 months, while also saving 50 percent of the typical cost. Samara CMC helps Internet appliance vendors easily build a centralized appliance management station that enables their customers to securely configure, monitor and control hundreds of Samara-based appliances deployed worldwide over LANs and WANs.
"Our Samara products include carefully selected features based on years of experience in appliance development," said Tall Maple Systems' Founder and CEO Greg Snyder. "By providing all the management components that virtually all Internet appliances have in common, Samara gives appliance vendors significantly increased quality over a build-it-yourself method, ensuring increased functionality, higher quality and rapid delivery to market."
IDG World Expo announced Samara as a finalist in the best embedded solution category for the LinuxWorld Product Excellence Awards, to be announced February 15, 2005. In conjunction with LinuxWorld Magazine, the LinuxWorld Product Excellence Awards recognize product and service innovations by LinuxWorld exhibitors.
"With Samara, Tall Maple demonstrates that they have thoughtfully anticipated ways to accelerate the product development needs of appliance vendors," said Rob Gurwitz, vice president of engineering, Tizor Systems, a company that develops Information Auditing and Protection Solutions for compliance auditing and information theft protection. "They have delivered an extremely flexible architecture and a comprehensive feature set."
Samara products are licensed with full source code, including reference implementation for all commonly required appliance functionality. Samara and Samara CMC support FedoraTM Core 3, FedoraTM Core 2, and RED HATTM Linux 9. The products are designed to be portable, so other platforms can easily be supported. Both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the platforms are available.
