The Pixel Farm Announces PFClip 1.0
Saturday, 30 July 2005The Pixel Farm, a company focused on innovation in the field of high-end digital post-production, is pleased to announce the launch of PFClip 1.0, at Siggraph 2005.
PFClip 1.0, a RAM based clip player, offers unrivaled performance of 2K 10-bit uncompressed footage on all platforms thus allowing a clip to be viewed in context using a simple drag and drop interface.
PFClip is a simple and cost-effective, resolution independent solution for review or presentation of single or multiple image sequences using Smart Cache RAM based playback. Using optimized GPU operations, full performance can be attained with standard hardware, you don’t have to go out and buy a ‘workstation’ level graphics card to get playback performance. Smart Cache is a new caching technology developed by The Pixel Farm that allows cached clips to be reused any number of times. For example, once a clip has been cached it can be reused in another sequence and it will still be cached so speeding up performance. Unlike other systems, there is no need to re-render clips when performing operations such as 3D LUTs adjustments. PFClip allows artists to quickly view clips in context on the desktop using the same robust and highly optimised playback engine found in PFPlay.
This low cost solution is supported on all platforms (Windows, Mac, and Linux workstations), with full cross platform floating licensing available.
PFClip is the only digital film and effects clip player fully developed and optimised for all platforms including Windows, OSX and 64-bit Linux . We develop for all platforms to ensure that maximum possible performance and features are available whatever OS you use.
Key Features - 3D Lut Technology - Cinespace and Kodak already supported - Flexible API to add additional colour technologies - Flexible network licensing available. - Smart Cache intelligent ram caching engine. - Sequence Player - True 64-bit version available for large memory addressing where supported within OS. - All operations performed in GPU, no re-rendering of footage back into memory. - Media bins to store clip locations - Full 2K 10-bit real-time playback on all platforms including Apple G5 - Powerful image analysis tools.
Shipping in August, PFClip is available for $349, with multiple seat and floating license pricing available.
