Transoft Announces 'Do-It-Yourself' Migration Tool Set for Legacy HP e3000 Users
Saturday, 21 May 2005Transoft, the leading provider of application migration solutions, today announced that its Transoft Legacy Liberator tool set is available as a complete easy-to-use Windows-based migration solution for HP e3000 users. Transoft Legacy Liberator will now allow HP e3000 users to undertake their own application migrations to new UNIX, Linux and Windows environments at their own pace and with lower migration costs. Transoft Legacy Liberator for HP e3000 is aimed at companies that wish to use their own IT resources to undertake the migration. It can even help organizations that have already partially prepared their applications for migration but are struggling to convert one or two aspects of their applications, such as the JCL, or the VPLUS screens. Transoft Legacy Liberator can be purchased as a complete tool set or separately so customers can purchase just the tools they need to convert specific components of their applications. It automatically converts COBOL programs to UNIX or Windows COBOL compilers and VPLUS screens to Windows, browser or character-based user interfaces. JCL can be emulated or converted to Korn shell, or VB script, and IMAGE and KSAM data is converted to Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server.
Transoft provides two consulting packages to help set-up and steer the project to a successful outcome, so not leaving customers completely on their own.
The Transoft Pathfinder service helps companies plan for a migration project by providing detailed analysis of all aspects of the customer's applications and how they impact the migration. In addition, it provides a migration road map, a detailed migration project plan and resource requirements for the customer.
The Transoft Migration Fast Start service provides on-site training in the use of the migration tools and ongoing mentoring to help the customer overcome any hurdles in the migration project.
"Many smaller HP e3000 users cannot afford to commission third parties to undertake a complete migration project," said Paul Holland, CEO of Transoft. "Now they can benefit from our migration software that is so easy-to-use that they can handle the migration in house with the option of using Transoft's experienced consultants to guide them successfully through their migration project."
"As we get nearer to the end of HP's support for the HP e3000 (end 2006), there is going to be a bandwidth issue for companies like Transoft who provide migration services for all HP e3000 users. By making our proven migration tools available as an easy to use do-it-yourself package, customers now have the option to undertake a migration project themselves," commented Paul Holland.
