Web 2.0, Java Technology and the Solaris 10 Operating System to Get Center Stage at Sun Tech Days Conference in Seattle, Washington

Sun Microsystems, Inc. (Nasdaq: SUNW), the creator and leading advocate of Java(TM) technology, today announced the details of the first Sun Tech Days developer conference of 2006-2007. Sun Tech Days are loaded with technical content, practical "how to" information, demonstrations, examples of real-world solutions, hands-on training and more. There is no charge to attend the Sun Tech Days in Seattle but space is limited.

Rich Green, executive vice president of Software at Sun will be the featured keynote on Thursday, September 7th and will discuss how the emergence of Web 2.0 technologies coupled with the continued movement towards open source is providing unique opportunities for developers to innovate and create value on the network. Rich will also update the audience on where Sun is in providing open source implementations of Java technology, Sun's tools strategy, the Solaris(TM) 10 Operating System (Solaris 10 OS) and new developer offerings.

In addition, developers can select from sessions on:

On Wednesday, September 6th, Sun Tech Day attendees can choose to attend one of two bonus developer days:

* NetBeans(TM) Day -- See first-hand how the NetBeans Integrated Development Environment (IDE) can help you become more productive with its unmatched out-of-the-box experience. * OpenSolaris(TM) Day -- Learn about OpenSolaris from its community members. There is no charge to attend Sun Tech Days, NetBeans Day or OpenSolaris Day. Now in its ninth year, the Sun Tech Days conference program has educated more than 150,000 developers on six continents.

On September 8th, developers can start on the path to Sun Certified Enterprise Architecture (SCEA) Certification through full-day Java University classes for either "Java EE Architecture and Design using Java EE Patterns" or "Introduction to AJAX". The cost for either session is $299 (USD), which includes course materials, lunch and refreshments.
